Lake Geneva, WI
We drove up to Lake Geneva, WI this past Sunday to get a break from the city. The town has been a popular vacation spot for residents of the Chicagoland Area for a long time. It's popularity was evident when we got stuck in a traffic jam on the main street immediately upon arriving. The town itself left something to be desired - we were hoping for a quaint, quiet small town (peak season is well over by now) but found crowds and chain stores and restaurants.
We were happier once we embarked on our long walk. When the town was founded, the land immediately adjacent to the lake was kept as public property. Both large estates and lovely little vacation homes were built all around the lake as the years passed, but the land next to the water remained open to the public. Even now visitors can walk the 21 miles around the lake with the water on one side and the impressive homes and gardens on the other. We just did part of the walk, but it was really beautiful and fun to see all the homes. Our BOB stroller performed amazingly well on the unpaved path allowing Brogan to sleep through the whole experience.
(By the way, the hat Brogan is wearing is yet another adorable hat made by Fritz's Aunt Mary. Thank you Mary!)
